"Dadegaz the storyteller and a  Drummer came to Duppas Junior School for Black History Month  to do workshops with six classes. They were highly proffesional and gave workshops on different Caribbean stories, each of which was visually and musically stimulating. All the teachers were impressed at  her skilful  and energetic storytelling. She was able to engage the children's attention and every child was involved in doing actions and chanting to retell the story in the choral speaking session of the workshop. The stories appealed to both the girls and boys, who obviously enjoyed the humour, the movement and the rhythmic chanting. The workshops engaged some of the  less academic children and enabled them to access the stories without the barrier of the  written language, as well as being able to engage the most reluctant of children.

The children's memories were developed in challenging but not threatening ways as they all had to remember a series of movements and phrases, which they performed together. Some children recently referred to the story they had performed and could still remeber part of it. The Head Teacher and many of the staff commented on what an excellent, enjoyable  cultural experience it had been for all the pupils involved.

I would recommend this artist to any school, which is looking for a fun, and interesting way of learning about different cultures through cross curricular links."
